We provide practical skills, confidence, and career pathways so blind and visually impaired individuals can build meaningful work and independent lives.
The challenge we are here to change
India is home to the world's largest blind population. Yet, despite hundreds of NGOs and training centers, most visually impaired individuals still struggle with unemployment, isolation, and lack of opportunity.
The Blind Academy was created to change this — turning training into lasting employment, income, and independence.
WHEN OPPORTUNITY BECOMES A VOICE
I may not see or hear or speak like others, but through my art, I can show who I am and what I can do.
Krishna's journey reflects a wider crisis: ability is often overlooked when communication or disability does not fit familiar expectations. The Blind Academy begins with a different question—not what someone cannot do, but what becomes possible with patient training, mentorship, and meaningful work.
The crisis is real. The response must be different.
HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT
We reach blind and visually impaired individuals and help them join the Academy.
Practical training in art, design, and production builds confidence and capability.
Ongoing guidance supports every artist as their practice and ambitions evolve.
We connect artists to income, opportunity, and a lasting route to independence.
PROGRESS YOU CAN SEE
Every piece begins as a lesson and becomes evidence of patience, judgement, and growing confidence. The finished work matters—but so does everything the artist learned while making it.
BEHIND EVERY PIECE
The work becomes more meaningful when the person behind it is visible. Each artist is developing a creative practice, a professional identity, and a path toward greater independence.
